Preparations to Samarkand’s Glorious Jubilee in Full Sway

According to the reports, the traditional Sixth Music Festival of “Sharq Taronalari” will take place during commemorations of the 2750th anniversary of Samarkand. The said date also comes in parallel with the nationwide celebrations of the 16th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s Independence.

At the moment, the country and city, in particular, is busied with full preparations to afore events, the report by Uzbekistan National News Agency has said.

“The Resolution of the President o­n commemorating the 2750th anniversary of our ancient and ever young city has inspired us, the people of Samarkand,” – Farmon Rozikov, the head of the regional department for culture and sports, has said, “this festive and high mood is now felt in everything and everywhere, including in the construction and betterment works vis-à-vis the preparations to a jubilee”.

As a part of pre-commemoration events we have held the local neighborhood communities contest, namely “Samarkand – my ancient city”. The display of national customs and traditions, as well as holding of the republican festival of folklore and doll’s theaters had built up the main essence of the contest, he added.

The artistic soirees and meetings o­n the topic “The pearl of the East” are also held at local neighborhood community areas and elsewhere in the town. Soon, the national modern song contest “I glorify Samarkand” will conclude, as well.

Besides, the city officials are scheduling to hold the exhibition of local masters of applied arts and young craftsmen in the town.

The all-out preparations to the next International Music Festival “Sharq taronalari” are also in full sway, the reports have said. The repertoire of the Samarkand performers and artistic groups are to be sketched in keeping with the forthcoming jubilee of the city.
