Number of Internet users in Uzbekistan exceeds 1.74 million

An estimated number of Internet users in Uzbekistan reached 1.745 million at the end of the first quarter of 2007. The figure has grown by 45,000 since the beginning of the year.
The number of mobile users continues to demonstrate fast growth. It has reached 3.4 million, up from 2.7 million at the beginning of the year.
These statistical figures were announced last week during the meeting of the Complex of Information Systems and Telecommunication of the Cabinet of Ministers.
At the beginning of the year 2006, the number of Internet users in Uzbekistan had been reported as 855,000, and the number of mobile users – 1.2 million.
