Uzbekistan And Egypt Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation
At the beginning of February this year, the delegation from the Arab Republic of Egypt came to Tashkent. The delegation was led by Mr. Tamer Halil, the deputy minister for Foreign Affairs. Within the framework of the visit the official foreign guests held meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry for Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade, Ministry of Healthcare and other agencies of the country.
While speaking to the Information Agency “Jahon” on the outcomes of the visit Tamer Halil noted, that the relations between Uzbekistan and the Arab Republic of Egypt are now dynamically developing in all spheres. He particularly underscored, that the official visit of H.E. Mr. Islam Karimov, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Arab Republic of Egypt in April 2007 and achieved agreements between the heads of the two states ascended the bilateral relations up to a new level.
The establishment of direct air communications between Tashkent and Cairo from July 2007 and exchange the visits of business people of the two countries show the stimulation of the bilateral cooperation. The Egyptian representatives also actively participated in the events dedicated to the announcement of Tashkent as a capital of Islamic Culture in 2007 and presidential elections on December 23, 2007 as foreign observers in Uzbekistan.
In this visit the delegation discussed the issues on development and intensification of mutual beneficial cooperation between the two states in various spheres.
“Egypt is interested in stimulation of trade and economic cooperation with Uzbekistan. We pay particular attention to the activity of the Uzbek-Egyptian Joint Commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical relations,” - Tamer Halil has said.
