President of Uzbekistan Received Commander of the U.S. Central Command
On January 24 this year at the Oksaroy Residence in Tashkent President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received the Commander of the U.S. Central Command Admiral William J. Fallon.
During the meeting in Oksaroy the two sides exchanged views on the issues of mutual interest, on regional security, stabilization of situation in Afghanistan, fight against international terrorism, drug trafficking, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and other contemporary threats.
The parties have also spoken about the state of reforms now underway in Uzbekistan on democratization and liberalization of society, ensuring human rights and freedoms.
Admiral William J. Fallon thanked for the welcome and said that both sides were equally interested in extending the mutually beneficial cooperation.
The same day admiral Fallon had meeting with the Secretary of the National Security Council, Minister of Defense, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Commander of Border Troops of Uzbekistan.
The meeting saw the discussion of bilateral cooperation and other issues of mutual interest.
