President of Uzbekistan Takes An Oath of Office
On January 16 this year the ceremony of assuming the post of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan took place in Tashkent at the joint session of Legislative Chamber and Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
The members of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of organizations, members of the Central Election Commission and judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the representatives of diplomatic missions, local and foreign mass media participated in the session.
“Today, at these solemn moments as I stand on this high rostrum I want to once again assure you and in your persons our entire nation that I will mobilize all my power and strength, knowledge and experience to fully and consistently realize all priority objectives that have been highlighted and enunciated in my pre-election program,” – President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said while taking the floor.
“Above all, in conducting the internal and foreign policy of our state such tasks as to ever increase the potential and might of our country, to comprehensively develop our Homeland, to provide for the peaceful and tranquil, free and prosperous life of our people will yet further remain as the core of my entire activity,”- President underscored.
Islam Karimov has expressed a sincere respect and gratitude to all voters, fellow countrymen, who had freely expressed their will and put a high trust on him holding the elections of President of Uzbekistan in line with full observance of laws and Constitution, international legal standards, and universally recognized principles.
The elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan held in the country on December 23 last year have become the most important political event of a historical significance for the future of the country, an important factor of consolidation of all forces and layers of society in their strife to continue social, economic, public and political reforms, democratic processes of renewal and modernization carried out in Uzbekistan since the state had gained independence and aimed at providing for peace, stability, prosperity of the country, and well being of the people.
