V. Churov of Russia’s CEC Lauds High Organization of Elections
Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Vladimir Churov is reported to have said the following while speaking to the Uzbekistan National News Agency.
Mr. Churov is among several international observers to have arrived in Uzbekistan to witness the process elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which are of a historical significance and importance.
“I have witnessed the active participation of the Uzbek citizens in the presidential elections. This testifies to the fact that they are not indifferent to their country’s future, development and prosperity of Homeland. The broad familiarization of voters with the pre-election program of presidential nominees is worth noting.
As a specialist I want to note that the elections, which are based on democratic principles, do not stand for chasing after holding various demonstrations and meetings, which usually provoke the disorders.
Uzbekistan confidently moves along the way of building the democratic state, the law-governed society. At these elections the voter rights for the secret voting are fully provided for.
The fact that nearly 5,000 voters, who have traveled to offer the pilgrimage of Hajj, had voted early is an opportunity created to ensure their constitutional rights, and this fully corresponds to international standards.
Along with observing the presidential elections in Uzbekistan I have had an opportunity to exchange views with my Uzbek colleagues. At several polling stations I have witnessed the noteworthy aspects of preparation for elections. In no other country I have observed such a high organizational level of holding the elections”.
