Five Political Parties and Voters' Initiative Group in Uzbekistan to Run for President

The Central Election Committee of Uzbekistan has adopted a resolution "On Approving the List of political parties and Voters' Initiative Groups Admitted to Stand for the Election of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan".

In accordance with Articles 14 and 21 of the Law on the Election of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 5 political parties (Adolat, Fidokorlar, Milliy tiklanish, People's Democratic Party and the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen - Liberal Democratic Party) and a voters' initiative group have been granted registration certificates to nominate their candidates to be elected the President of Uzbekistan in the forthcoming elections.

The voters' initiative group was formed in the city of Tashkent on October 5, 2007, to nominate Mr. A.Saidov as a candidate for the upcoming presidential elections in Uzbekistan.
Thus, 5 political parties and a voters' initiative group will run for the office of the President in the presidential elections to be held on December 23, 2007.
