3rd International Uzbek Cotton Fair will be held in Tashkent on 10-12 September 2007

On the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan with a view to expand and diversify Uzbek cotton’s export destinations, to increase efficiency and optimize shipment of Uzbek cotton to the world markets, the First International Uzbek Cotton Fair was organized and successfully conducted in 2005.

The Cotton Fair stimulated further development of market mechanism in cotton trading, improvement of business relations between Uzbek producers and its customers. Taking into account the results of this event as well as high appreciations from international participants, it was decided to conduct International Uzbek Cotton Fair on the regular annual basis.

The II International Uzbek Cotton Fair was conducted with great success in 2006 and about 350 representatives of 250 international companies from 35 countries of the world participated in this event.

Following to the established tradition, as well as considering wide experience of the past years, on 10-12 September 2007 the regular III International Uzbek Cotton Fair will be held in Tashkent.

During the Cotton Fair participants will have the opportunity to sign contracts on Uzbek cotton, to set up long-term cooperation in cotton trading, as well as to be familiarized with the qualitative characteristics of Uzbek cotton and with the latest innovations in trade and logistics. Moreover, during the Cotton Fair “round tables” and bilateral negotiations between Uzbek cotton exporters and consumers will be organized. The guests of the Cotton Fair will have an opportunity to participate in the cotton trading session on Uzbek commodity exchange.

At the same time, as it is known, another tradition was established in the world cotton industry – holding of International Cotton and Textile Conference in Tashkent once in two years. Thus series of conferences were successfully held in 2000, 2002 and 2005.

Taking into account annual conducting of International Uzbek Cotton Fair in Tashkent as well as opinions of the world cotton industry participants, it was decided to carry out the IV International Cotton and Textile Conference jointly with III International Uzbek Cotton Fair. The International conference about “World cotton and textile market: outlook and vision for 2010” will provide participants with a great opportunity to be acquainted with competent ideas and opinions of the experts from advanced world cotton and textile industry countries.

In the framework of the conference it is planed to discuss the current problems and prospects of the development of the world cotton market as well as to learn competent views of the leading international experts on the different topics of the world cotton and textile industries on the issues such as:

-World cotton market: demand and supply, prices and factors;

-Current state and prospects of production and marketing of cotton in Uzbekistan;

-New technologies to increase cotton competitiveness;

-World market of cotton textile: present and future;

-Investment climate and foreign investors in textile industry of Uzbekistan and etc.

The regular Cotton Fair and Conference will be conducted at high level and become the basis for the mutually beneficial cooperation between the participants of the world cotton and textile industry.
