‘Can’t Stop Admiring Charming Beauty & Greatness of Islamic monuments of Uzbekistan’
The decision of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) on announcing Tashkent the capital of Islamic Culture in 2007 has profoundly resonated in the academic, political, social, cultural and expert circles in the United States as well as diplomatic corps in Washington, D.C.
Briefing dedicated to this significant event was held in the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United States. The ambassadors of the member states of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, representatives of the Congress, White House, State Department, research and university circles, public organizations and journalists have participated in the said event. While opening the briefing, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov has said that the recognition of Tashkent by such a prominent international organization as the ISESCO as the capital of Islamic culture serves yet another evidence of the unique contribution of the Uzbek people to the making of the making and development of Islamic civilization.
As a part of the event the documentaries “Tashkent is the capital of Islamic Culture”, “Khastimom is the pearl of Tashkent” and “Mushaf Usman” made by the “Uzbekkino”National Agency and science fiction and documentary films cinema studio were demonstrated to the visitors.
Secretary General of the North America Islamic Society Dr. S.Siid on behalf of the U.S. Muslims has congratulated the people of Uzbekistan on such recognition of Tashkent as the capital of the Islamic Culture.
“Such ancient cities as Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva are considered to be the masterpieces of the Muslim civilization and represent enormous historical, scientific and cultural value. I visited Uzbekistan several times and can’t stop admiring the charming beauty and greatness of the Islamic monuments in this ancient land,” the Vice-President of the U.S. National Press Club Peter Hickman has said.
President of the American nongovernmental organization "Friends of Uzbekistan" P.Roberts has said that the people of Uzbekistan were confidently moving forward on their unique way of development and making their own contribution to the development of Islamic civilization.
